Al inicio de su ca- rera era muy estática en escena, no se movía, y era muy seria. Pero de pronto co- menzó a proyectar la imagen que conocemos, jovial, alegre, segura de sí misma. En 1960 salió de Cuba con la Sonora y siguió con ellos unos años hasta que se independizó. Cambia al sello Tico en 1966 y graba con Tito Puente en New York, y con Memo Salamanca en México, pero actúa por todo el Caribe. En 1974 pasa al sello Vaya y graba primero con Johnny Pacheco, después con Willie Colón, la Sonora Ponceña en Borinquen. At the beginning of her career she was very still at stage, and solemn looking. But soon she started projecting the image we know, jovial, happy, self, confident. In 1960 she left Cuba with the Sonora Matancera and sang with them for a few years until started on her own. She switched to Tico label in 1966 and recorded with Tito Puente and Memo Salamanca, but touring all the Caribe. In 1974 she signed Vaya label recording first with Johnny Pacheco then Willie Colón, Sonora Pon- ceña in Bo- rinquen.
